OJT is a form of development that is given to people at their place of work usually by other experienced or knowledgeable staff members. OJT is an effective training method among a number of training methods that can be used.

When implementing OJT an organisation should:

  • Assess training needs;
  • Determine if OJT is the best delivery method;
  • Find a suitable trainer;
  • Use a systematic process or model to facilitate knowledge and skill transfer;
