Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) enjoys international acclaim. Since opening in 1995 it has built up a global reputation based on total dedication to providing excellent service. It has obtained numerous awards and standards for tourism, the environment, leadership, people, marketing etc., including the EFQM European Quality Award, Investors in People, ISO9001 and ISO14001.
EICC’s aim is to be recognised globally as THE benchmark for the service industry and as a company that consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations. To date, over 2000 events have brought more than 700,000 delegates to the city of Edinburgh and in excess of £200 million has been generated in economic benefit for the city and surrounding area.
Reynaldo Guino-o is a member of the Human Resources and Total Quality Management Team operating in what is a very flat structure within the organisation. He has the task of encouraging the implementation of policy and procedures and sees his behind the scenes role as a facilitator, coach and mentor. He acts as an internal consultant and is a fully trained EFQM assessor.
As the ‘Business Excellence co-ordinator’ he has a crucial part to play within the organisation that is seen as a leader by others in pursuit of excellence since it was presented with the prestigious EFQM European Quality Award.
The BPIR.com website was introduced to the EICC by Quality Scotland as part of a continuous improvement initiative and it is now used by them to benchmark against other leading organisations that are also engaged in the pursuit of excellence. Areas of interest include customer satisfaction, people motivation and business results, particularly in the service sector.
Reynaldo said
“One of the prime challenges to becoming a world-class organisation is to identify appropriate benchmarks and potential benchmarking partners. We can identify benchmarks in our own industry but we are using the BPIR.com to identify benchmarks and benchmarking partners from outside our industry to give us new ideas on how to improve. With this information and learning from other organisations we hope to get even better business results over the forthcoming year.
BPIR.com is also used as a point of reference to provide credibility to arguments and debates in the areas of Business Excellence and Best Practice, as we strive to take the business forward."
